The Bank of England Lending Statistics on lending to individuals for September shows yet again another increase, both in total – up £1.0 billion and secured on dwellings – up £0.3 billion.
For total lending this is in line with the 6 month average. However that secured on dwellings is slightly behind the average of £0.6 billion.
However for total lending this represents 3 solid increases of £1.0 billion each for the last 3 months, with the 4th month (July) also positive but somewhat lower at £0.2 billion.
Lending secured on swellings although increasing each month for the last 3, is trending downwards with a gross lending of £12.2 billion
Loan Approvals
The number of approvals for house purchases actually decreased in September to 50,967, yet this represents an increase above the previous six month average of 48,460.
Remortgaging on the other hand was again up to 34,924, although this represents a very small increase.
