Tips to Make the Most of Your Space at Home Without Having To Move

Over the years, our needs change when it comes to what we require within a home- this could be due to expanding the family or simply just wanting to have more space to store belongings. This is very common, but there are some things that you can do to make your space feel bigger, as selling a home can be expensive and stressful. Before doing any home renovation, ensure you have insurance to protect yourself and the property. Here is some advice on what to do if you find yourself wanting a bit more space.

Make the most of your storage space – go through your home and have a look for any dead space, that is not being used to its full potential. Try to think outside the box, do some research into small homes, and borrow some ideas from their layouts and storage options. You will be surprised at home many spaces you find, ready to utilise! 

Repurpose your furniture – Consider what furniture you think is essential to keep, and anything that is not used regularly – you know what to do! To make better use of space, why not swap beds into sofa beds, to allow them to be folded and put away when not in use? Also, choosing the right interior style can be of great help.

Declutter your spaces – this is an obvious one but something that we all dread having to do – but I promise once it is done you will feel so much better! Start by going through your wardrobe and make your way room by room – putting everything into piles of stuff that you would like to donate to charity or try to sell.

Plan a room renovation – Why not try to design your room in a way to make the most use of the space you have. One way in which we recommend doing this is by creating a multifunctional room. It is all good and well having separate rooms – but why not try something a bit different and create a multifunctional room? For example, why not put your home office in your bedroom to save some space?

Make use of your attic – If you have an attic that is currently not in use, now is the perfect time to get a conversion and use your extra space. This room could then be turned into anything, such as an additional bedroom or a living room. Although this is not cheap to do, compared to moving homes it is a lot more affordable – and you get the benefit of adding value to your property, therefore increasing its worth if you do choose to sell it in the future!
