Halifax HPI finishes 2013 Strong

Halifaxs final House price Index for 2013 report a strong finish to the year, which was also seen by rightmove.co.uks HPI released earlier this month. 2013 final quarter house prices were 1.9% higher than the previous quarter. This more stable and reliable figure throughout the preceding 6 months has been in the range 1.8 to 2.1%

Government official figures show strong growth in UK house prices

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) announced its October 2013 HPI yesterday. The ONS figures are always a few months behind the other major HPI announcements. Key figures Over the year to October 2013 UK house prices have increased by 5.5%, up against the annual change reported in September 2013 - which was 3.8% Over the month the increase, seasonally adjusted, was 1.4% Across the countries of the UK, this growth was seen as 5.7% in England 2.0% in Wales 3.3% in Scotland 4.8% in Northern Ireland The UK mix-adjusted House price Index surpased the record level seen in August 2013 by 0.2%. Pre-Christmas fall in asking prices kicks in

rightmove.co.uks House price Index for November 2013 shows that the average asking price that new sellers are requested has started to be impacted and has falled since October. rightmove.co.uk put this down to the usual pre-christmas fall that impacts the housing market, indicating that the early days of the Help to Buy scheme has failed to affect this.

The Halifax House Price Index for April 2013 see and increase of 1.3% over the three months to April 2013, more than in the previous three months. They also report a 3rd subsequent monthly rise of the average house price, the largest move being in April.
