The high demand for rented accommodation means Landlords will enjoy their current returns for another five years or so, it has been claimed.

Director at LandlordZONE Tom Entwistle said that the future of the private rental market looks bright and that savvy landlords can look forward to a prosperous few years.

“Given the predicted growth of the UKs residential rental market over the next five years or so, I am cautiously optimistic that tenant demand will sustain rental incomes for landlords over this period,” the expert noted.

However, the picture is not perfect, as while those with buy to let property insurance will see the current rate of rental returns remain steady, house prices are likely to decline and economic growth will be patchy for the foreseeable future, he added.

Yolande Barnes, head of residential research at Savills, told Bloomberg that she too is optimistic about the medium-term future of the buy to let sector.
