Buying a property is one of the most significant milestones of your life; it is an exciting and important time for you, so it’s only natural that you may have a few questions about the process.

Here are a few of our commonly asked questions…

What is conveyancing?

Conveyancing is the legal process of transferring property ownership from one party (the seller) to another (the buyer).

How long does conveyancing take?

At Convey With Me, we aim to complete the conveyancing process for our clients within six – eight weeks; this is a little quicker than average timescale which is usually take between eight and 12 weeks. However, conveyancing can take longer, it purely depends on your circumstances. It is important to be aware of this as conveyancing solicitors can’t give a precise time frame at the start of a transaction, but always let them know your preferred timescale and they will be able to work with you towards completing your house purchase around this if they can.

Why does it take so long?

“When will I actually be moving?” you may be wondering! Whether you’re selling or buying (or both), the conveyancing process is divided into two stages – pre-exchange of contracts and post-exchange of contracts. They aren’t equal halves, meaning that you could be waiting for quite some time to exchange contracts and make your property transaction legally binding (it’s at the exchange of contract stage that neither party can pull out of the agreement). It is important with aspects such as this that you choose a conveyancer that you feel confident with. After the exchange of contracts, the process will significantly speed up and you can expect to complete your purchase within the next seven to 14 days. At Convey With Me, we provide easy to use online tracking tools meaning you can stay updated with 24-hour access, ensuring you always know what stage of the conveyancing process you’re at.

Is it going to be expensive?

The cost of conveyancing can vary, purely depending on the complexity of your purchase. With our services, you can apply for a quote through the click of a button. We will process your information and be in touch with a detailed price, ensuring you’re able to move forward with your sale or purchase quickly and efficiently. Our ability to reduce the cost and give you more access to the property transaction process is the core of our track record of success.
