The Banks figures shows that this lending increased by £1.0 billion in August – compared to the monthly average of £0.8 billion.
Gross lending secured on dwellings was therefore £14.9 billion – with repayments set at £13.9 billion.
Mortgage Approvals
The number of approvals of loans for house purchases was also up to 62,226, compared to a monthly average of 56,597.
The number of approvals for remortgaging was also up by £0.4 billion to 36,225, compared to a monthly average of 31,629 over the last six months.
