3 ways to add value to your bathroom before selling your home

If you’re thinking of selling your home at some point down the road, now is the right time to start thinking of the improvements you could make to appeal to potential sellers. There’s plenty of ways to add value to your living room or bedroom, however it can be a little trickier to know what to do for your bathroom. As it is the most used room in the home, it’s essential to make it look as appealing as possible. Here are three ways to add value to your bathroom.

Invest in new fittings

There’s nothing better than coming out of the shower to a warm and fluffy towel. A heated towel rack will add so much value to your home, first of all because it supplies more heat to your room but also because it dries towels quickly and efficiently. Shower heads are also an easy and small change that makes all the difference, you could install a high pressure one or even a rainfall shower system.

However, keep in mind that you don’t necessarily have to invest in expensive new improvements if you don’t have the budget for it, it could be as simple as changing your toilet seat to a modern one.

Get rid of the damp

Damp and mould are often unwanted guests in our bathrooms. It’s important to tackle that issue before selling your home, it can put sellers off and also be a health hazard. Creating a healthy and pristine bathroom should be on the top of your list. Check that your extractor fan works correctly, if not, change it. You could also replace tiles and repaint walls with anti-mould paint.

Mould is often a problem if you have issues with ventilation, heating or insufficient insulation so make sure you are actively looking at the root of the problem.

Decorate!

We often forget to decorate our bathrooms; we take them for granted and just see the room as a practical one. However, a bathroom is often where you start and finish your day, besides people are most likely to judge you and your home on its appearance so it’s important to make it as nice as possible.

You could introduce some greenery which woud definitely add a nice lively touch of colour and interest to your bathroom. There are also health benefits as plants are great for improving air quality and absorbing excess moisture.

If you’re planning on doing some home improvement, the bathroom is a good place to start. It doesn’t have to be a full revamp or really expensive, sometimes just replacing a toilet seat or a shower curtain could make all the difference.
